Our principal conductor is Paul Cox:

[photo of Paul Cox] Paul Cox studied Music at the University of East Anglia and then did a postgraduate degree in Performance Studies at the University of Reading. During this time he studied 'cello in London with Christopher Bunting. After masterclasses with Harro Ruijsenaas, he went on to forge a career as soloist and chamber musician. He conducts many orchestras and has taught/coached 'cello, chamber music and conducting at all levels.

Currently, he is Head of Strings at the University of Southampton and is Chairman of the Eureka! Foundation which supports both the performance and the teaching of music. Recently, he was soloist in the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and he has recorded the works for 'cello and piano by Sergei Bortkiewicz. He has worked extensively with youth orchestras, conducting in the Royal Albert Hall and many venues throughout Europe. He conducted the Berkshire County String Orchestra in Vienna when they won 1st prize in the Music for Youth competition.

In past, guest conductors of the ISIS Chamber Orchestra have included Nick Barton, Neil Farrow, Chris Gill, Alex Harper, Caroline Hobbs-Smith, Mark Hooper, Peter McMullin, John Oxlade, Alexander Walker, and Ben Winters.
